President’s Report
President Richmond provided an update on some of the topics discussed at the July 18-19 CSU Board of Trustees’ meeting:
- Underserved communities

- 63rd Annual Convention of the National Congress of American Indians, October 1-6, Sacramento http://www.ncai.org/

- Collective bargaining agreements reached

While in Long Beach, President Richmond met with Jeff Newman of the California Business, Transportation and Housing Agency and other CSU presidents to discuss efforts to improve broadband access throughout the state, especially in rural areas.
Other reports
Provost Vrem reported:
- that a class taught by Professor Hal Campbell, with the assistance of Michael Penney, developed a model portal (distance education) for the CSU system.
Vice President Gunsalus reported:
- that resources will be focused on the coordination of annual giving, as well as the individual cultivation of major gift prospects and planned giving -- areas with potential for significant impact.
- that Graphic Services and Public Affairs are working together in making improvements to HSU’s web site.
Professor Mortazavi reported:
- that a campus budget presentation is planned for the September 12 Academic Senate meeting.
Anna Kircher reported:
- that she continues to review the ITS operation to identify a balance between demands and resources.
2006-2007 Merit Salary Increase – Process for Management Personnel Plan and Confidential Employees
Tammy Curtis reviewed a proposed policy, which was prepared by Carol Terry. She emphasized the importance of completing evaluations (including an overall employee performance rating) by August 8. The University Executive Committee members approved the proposed process.
