We have approximately 120 majors in political science.

There are a variety of Humboldt State University awards that are of special interest to political science majors.

There are also numerous fellowship and internship opportunities. One of the most prestigious for political science majors while they are still working on their degree is the Panetta Congressional Internship. The 2005 Panetta Internship Awardee is Ian Caliendo.

Many of our graduates have used such opportunities to launch exciting and fulfilling careers. The HSU student body president for 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 is currently an Executive Fellow in Sacramento, working in the Governor’s Office. A graduate from the 1990s parlayed a local internship into interning at Amnesty International in London, and now works for the United Nations in Geneva. These and other alumni of our program have gone on to positions in government, the non-profit sector, higher education, and more.
