Saturday, April 18


·March Monitor Training   Green and Gold 12:00 – 3:00pm
In this workshop, participants will learn the necessary skills to help ensure the safety of those participating in the march.  March monitors will help guide the march safely through the streets of Arcata on the night of the event.


· Make Your Own T-shirt Silk-Screening   MCC 4:00 – 6:00pm
Represent Take Back the Night!  During this time, participants may bring their own t-shirts to be silk screened with images that celebrate the week of events.


Sunday, April 19th


· North Coast Rape Crisis Team Self-Defense Workshop   Green and Gold 12:00-4:00pm
A comprehensive self-defense instruction that will teach woman-identified participants the skills needed to protect themselves in harmful situations.


Monday, April 20th-Friday April 24th


· Mural Project    Art Quad (Set up from 11:30 – 4:30 daily)
This collaborative art project helps encourages survivors and people in the community to express their emotional responses to sexualized violence in the form of a mural.  Stop by and use the materials provided to add to it throughout the week.


·Alter Making    Karshner Lounge (Set up from 11:30 – 4:30 daily)
A space for survivors and survivor allies to reflect upon their healing by creating a community alter.  Participants may bring copies of photos, flowers, remembrances and other personal items that they would like to add to the alter.  (Please note that the WRC cannot ensure that items will be protected at all times.)


Monday, April 20th

· Clothesline Project Workshop   NHE 113 4:00-7:00pm
Survivors make their own t-shirts to add to the Clothesline Project.


· Keynote Address – Cheri Honkala, Director of the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign   Native Forum 7:30-10:00pm
Activist Cheri Honkala has organized for over 20 years around issues of poverty and houselessness.  The Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign is committed to unite the poor across color lines as the leadership base for a broad movement to abolish poverty.  Cheri will discuss the intersections between poverty and sexualized violence in a talk that is sure to be a powerful message to carry on throughout the week.


Tuesday, April 21st


·Open Mic Night   Redwood Yogurt 6:00-9:00pm
Come share a poem, a song, or other artistic expression at an open mic night specifically oriented towards addressing sexualized violence.


Wednesday, April 22nd


· Cop Watch Training   SH 108 2:00-6:00pm
In this training, participants will learn their rights when dealing with law enforcement agencies.  We will also learn the tools necessary to effectively monitor policing in order to prevent unjust actions against the community.


·A Discussion on Violence and Youth Native Forum 6:00-8:00pm
Participants will collaborate on various Pop-Ed exercises that explore and analyze the particular issues surrounding violence and youth.  We will also strategize methods of resistance and seek to empower children and adolescents through our organizing.


Thursday, April 23rd

 

·  Exploring Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the Veteran and Civilian Communities – Roundtable Discussion    KA 102 3:00-5:00pm
We will discuss how the experience of PTSD affects individuals in both the veteran and civilian communities, explain how it operates, and discuss what support is needed for healing.


· Film Screening – Señorita Extraviada KA 102 5:00-7:30pm
This documentary film explores the wave of unexplained murders of women working in maquiladoras occurring in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.  Following the film, we will discuss this complex issue and turn the lens inward to examine the role U.S. consumer markets play in perpetuating violence.

Friday, April 24th
