Arrive by Air
The Arcata/Eureka airport is about a ten minute drive from campus. It is serviced by United and Horizon/Alaska airlines and offers rental cars. More details and travel information is available on our local visitor's bureau web site.
Drive to Humboldt
Arcata lies along U.S. Highway 101. It takes about six hours to drive to Arcata from San Francisco or Sacramento. Watch for the Humboldt State University off-ramp and signs to the campus. See detailed driving directions.
Lodging
We have put together a complete list of local restaurants and lodging options, including hotels, motels, bed and breakfast inns, and campgrounds. Download the file (PDF, 207KB).
Parking on Campus
A parking permit is required to park on campus. If you have scheduled a campus visit, please visit the University Police Department, located on the 1st floor of the Student and Business Services (SBS) Building. Let them know you are here for a campus visit, and they will give you a parking permit for the day. If you visit on your own, permits are available at the parking kiosk on Rossow Street, as well as from an automated kiosk in the large parking lot in front of the SBS building.
You can't separate the Humboldt learning experience from the Humboldt living experience. There's so much to see and do and become--from exploring our forests and beaches to absorbing the best of dining, arts and community. Wherever they go, HSU grads carry that Redwood Coast spirit with them always.
