Cisco PIX 506E

The Cisco PIX 506E is a firewall designed for small offices / home office (SOHO) environments.

Features:
- Firewall with access control lists (ACLs) and layer 4-7 data inspection
- Network Address Translation (NAT)
- 2 10/100 auto sensing Ethernet ports
- DES, 3DES, and AES virtual private network (VPN) services

ITL Details

The ITL lab includes 2 PIX 506E firewalls. The firewalls are located on rack 2 and 3. These firewalls augment the 515E firewalls on those racks. The firewalls have been loaded with the AES encryption licenses for AES 128bit. They have also been also had their system memory upgraded from 32MB to 128MB and 256MB to allow for the PIX OS 7.1.2 to be loaded. PIX OS 7.1.2 features an IOS like command structure that eases the use of the firewall for those familiar with IOS bases Cisco switches and routers.
