ITL Server Setup

The ITL Server is a AMD64 server running Ubuntu Linux that provides DNS, TFTP, DHCP, and image storage services to the the ITL lab. The server is currently located in the server room closet near the stairwell in Nelson Hall West.

Network Setup
The server is patched from the ITL lab in NHW to the server closet near the stairwell using existing Category 5 wiring in the building. There is a red patch cable labeled ITLServer1 at Rack 4 that wraps around the room to Rack 1 where it connects to a wall jack. In the server closet the cable is patched from a wall mount patch to the 10/100 PCI NIC on the server. The patch cable at rack 4 can be connected and disconnected at will depending on if DHCP, DNS, and TFTP are desired.

System Setup
The system is a standard Ubuntu Gusty Gibbon (8.04) with server packages added. The system is installed with default partition table setup with 1.5GB of swap at sda2 and the rest of the drive devoted to / at sda2. Sdb is partitioned as an ext3 drive mounted at /lab_image
