Services :: Virus Protection
Enhanced Email Security
Humboldt State University email is screened for viruses in order to prevent attacks on your computer via email messages. Approximately 100,000 email messages are received by our campus each day and the Barracuda hardware blocks approximately 67% as spam or viruses before they ever reach the intended recipient.
Recent virus attacks try to gain legitimacy by appearing to come from official sources (e.g. Humboldt Support team, FBI, eBay, banks, etc) or from someone you know. HSU does NOT send patch or upgrade information by way of email attachments. In the event you receive unsolicited email messages with an attachment we recommend that you contact the sender to verify the legitimacy of the message.
Filtering Email Attachments - In an effort to provide vital protection against malicious computer viruses spread through email, Humboldt State University now actively filters (blocks) email attachments that represent a known and significant threat of viral infection. This link provides information and instructions for filtered email attachments.
