HSU Server Host Names
The following is a list of Host names for servers at HSU:
Web Server - sorrel.humboldt.edu
Instructional Server - redwood.humboldt.edu
Note: If connecting from campus, you can enter just the server name sorrel, redwood.
Better Telnet for Macintosh
- From the Launcher on the desktop, click on the Net Applications button.
- Click on Better Telnet.
- From the File menu at the top of the window, select Open Connection.
- Choose the server host name from the drop-down box and click on the Connect button.
- At the login: prompt, enter your account login and password.
Ewan for Windows
- From the Start menu select Net Applications or Internet Applications.
- Select EWAN.
- In the Connect to site window, double click on the server host name, or select the host name by clicking once a then click on the OK button.
- At the login: prompt, enter your account login and password.
Telnet and QVTNet for Windows
Telnet:
- From the Start menu select the Run... option
- In the Open: box, type in telnet redwood.humboldt.edu (or another host name).
- At the login: prompt, enter your account login and password.
SSH Secure Shell:
- From the Start menu choose Programs: SSH Secure Shell: Secure Shell Client.
- Press the enter key or space bar.
- At the login: prompt, enter your account login and password.
QVTNet:
- From the Start menu choose Programs: QVTNet: QVT-Term
or
From the Start menu select the Run... option and in the Open: Box, type in term.exe. - From the File menu select Open.
- Enter the server host name or double click on the host name if it appears in either selection window.
- At the login: prompt, enter your account login and password.
