HSU Network Folder Access Details
If you are a current student, staff, or faculty member you already have access to your Network Folder. Your Network Folder is accessed with your HSU User Name, the same user name you use for e-mail and to log in at a computer lab. Your Network Folder will be available to you for as long as you are with the University.
How much space do I have?
The amount of space (or quota) you have in your HSU Network Folder is determined by your position at HSU.
| General | CNRS | |
|---|---|---|
| Students | 100 MB | 500 MB (1/2 GB) |
| Staff | 200 MB | |
| Faculty | 300 MB | 1000 MB (1 GB) |
To check your quota, log in to Account Center (formerly known as WebReg), click on "Account Tools," and select "Current Quota and Usage."
How much space am I using?
You can check your quota and current usage at any time by logging in to Account Center (formerly known as WebReg). Once you are logged in, click on "Account Tools," and select "Current Quota and Usage."
On-Campus Users in labs and offices can also check their usage:
Windows XP
In My Computer, the "Total Size" (quota) and "Free Space" will be displayed next to your HSU Network Folder (typically, this is the U: drive).
Macintosh OS X
Open your HSU Network Folder in Finder. At the bottom of the window your free space is listed as: "xxx MB available." The “Capacity” (quota) and “Available” space may also be obtained by doing a “Get Info” (in the file menu) on the Network Folder.
What happens if I use all of my space?
When you are using 90% or more of your storage space, you will receive a weekly e-mail message letting you know that you have nearly reached your quota. You will also receive an e-mail if the amount of storage space available is reduced because of an enrollment status change or a temporary increase expires. This is a good time to clean out old files to make sure you have enough space to add new files later.
If you move a large amount of data to your Network Folder, you may find that the file transfer fails. This will occur when you exceed your quota. Once you have reached your quota, you will no longer be able to put any more data on your Network Folder until you free up space by deleting files or increase your quota.
How can I get more space?
You can request a temporary increase that will be effective through the end of the current semester. Requests of up to 50 MB over your default quota will be automatically granted and processed immediately.
Larger requests will be evaluated individually. You will be notified via e-mail when a decision is made regarding your request.
To request an increase, log in to Account Center (formerly known as WebReg), click on "Account Tools," and select "Current Quota and Usage."
What happens when I leave the University?
Your account will remain active as long as you have an active affiliation with the University. When you leave or become inactive, you will no longer be able to access the files stored in your HSU Network Folder.
You will receive an e-mail if your status changes.
It is YOUR responsibility to back up your files located on the HSU Network Folder PRIOR to leaving the campus.
