Mapped Drive Connection Guide - Technical Users (ITCs)

You can map a drive to your HSU Network Folder for on campus use only. This makes your folder appear as though it is a hard drive in your computer. In Windows, it will show up as a drive in My Computer. Macintosh users will see an icon on their desktop.

Staff and Faculty users should contact the appropriate ITC for assistance in connecting to the Network Folder.

For additional guidelines, please see the Standardized Network Resource Mapping IT Procedure.

Before you begin...

To configure a mapped drive, you will need:

  1. Your HSU User Name
  2. The Server Address
  3. The drive letter or mounting name

  1. Your HSU User Name is your campus e-mail address before the @ symbol.

If you do not know your HSU User Name, you may find it by logging into Account Center (formerly known as WebReg) and clicking "Personal Information". You can also call the Help Desk at 826-4357.

Users who are not connected to HSU's Active Directory Domain will need to enter their user name as: HSU-AD\HSUUserName

  2. The Server Address is:
    \\folders\

  3. The drive letter or mounting name:
    1. Windows
      1. S:\ - Lab specific share drive
      2. T:\ - Faculty Folders (\\folders\faculty)
      3. U:\ - Users Network Folder (\\folders\HSUUserName)
    2. Macintosh
      1. "HSUUserName" - Users Network Folder (smb://folders/HSUUserName)
      2. "class-files" - Faculty Folders (smb://folders/faculty)
      3. "share" - Lab specific share drive
    3. Linux
      1. /home - Users Network Folder(//folders/HSUUserName)
      2. /class-files - Faculty Folders (//folders/faculty)
      3. /share - Lab specific share drive
