Email :: Mail Client :: Entourage 2004 IMAP

Before you begin setting up Entourage, you must install the HSU Security Certifcate. Information about certificates and instructions for installation can be found by clicking Install Certificate.

  1. From the Entourage menu bar, click Tools and then click Accounts.



  2. The Accounts dialog will be displayed with the Mail tab selected. Click New to create a new account.

    If you are editing an existing account, click to highlight the account you want to edit and then click the Edit icon on the Accounts dialog. Skip to number 4 below.




  3. Select IMAP from the Account Type list, and then click OK.




  4. An Account Settings information dialog similar to the following will be displayed. Type a name to identify this account within Entourage.

    In the Personal Information section, type the Name you want shown as the Sender on your outgoing email. Type your complete email address in the space provided.



  5. In the Receiving Mail section, enter your user name as the Account ID as shown in the example. The IMAP Server should be imap.humboldt.edu.

    If you want Entourage to save your password, enter your email password in the space provided. As you begin to type, the checkbox used to add the password to the Mac keychain will be activated.

    Click the Advanced Receiving Options button to display the following information:



  6. Click to check the SSL requirement box as shown above. Once you click the box, the IMAP port will change to 993. Click the close icon in the top, left-hand corner of the option dialog to return to the Account Settings dialog.



  7. Click the button to display the Advanced Sending Options. Click the box labeled Override default SMTP port. As you click the box, the existing port setting will be highlighted. Type 587 to change the default port.

    If you frequently send mail to other HSU email addresses, type humboldt.edu in the box labeled Domain for unqualified addresses. This change will allow you to type in only the User Name portion of an address, such as abc###, rather than having to type the full email address abc###@humboldt.edu.

    Click the close icon in the top, left-hand corner of the option dialog to return to the Account Settings dialog.



  8. Click OK back at the Account Settings dialog to complete the setup process.
