Before you begin setting up Eudora, you must install the HSU Security Certifcate. Information about security certificates and instructions for installation can be found by clicking Install Certificate.
The first time you run Eudora the account creation process starts automatically. From the Welcome screen, click Next to start the New Account Wizard.

Click to select the Create a brand new email account option and then click Next.

Type your name in the box provided. The name you enter here is the name that will appear in the From section of your outgoing email messages. Click Next to continue.

In the space provided, type in your complete email address, and then click Next.

Your Login Name, or user name, consists of your initials and a number assigned by HSU. It does not include the @humboldt.edu part of your email address. Type your Login Name in the space provided, and then click Next.

Type imap.humboldt.edu as the name of the Incoming Server. Click to select IMAP as the server type, and click Next.

The IMAP Location Prefix determines where your mail resides on the server. Type mail/ in the box provided and click Next.

Type smtp.humboldt.edu as the name of the Outgoing Server. If you are off campus, click to check the Allow Authentication box as shown. On-campus users, be sure that the box remains unchecked. Click Next.

Regardless of what Eudora is telling you, you haven't quite completed the setup process required to use Eudora with your HSU email account. Two changes must be made to the default information used by Eudora in order to successfully use your account.
Click Finish from the Success screen to return to the main Eudora window.

If you have already created an account, click to select Tools from the menu bar, and then click Options. A window similar to the following will appear.

Click to select Getting Started under Category on the left-hand side of the window. If you are connecting from off campus you must check Allow Authentication. On-campus users should leave that box blank. Verify that the remainder of the displayed information is accurate, making any necessary changes.
Next, click to select the Checking Mail category to display a window similar to the window shown below. Click the down-arrow to activate the drop-down box labeled Secure Sockets when Receiving. Click to select Required, Alternate Port.
Verify that the Mail Server is shown as imap.humboldt.edu.

Click to select the Incoming Mail category. For your email folders to show up properly in Eudora, type mail/ in the box below the heading IMAP Mailbox Location Prefix.

Next, click to select the Sending Mail category. Verify that your email address is displayed correctly. If not, type in your complete email address.
If you frequently send mail to other HSU email addresses, type humboldt.edu in the box labeled Domain to add to unqualified addresses. This change will allow you to type in only the User Name portion of an address, such as abc###, rather than having to type the full email address abc###@humboldt.edu.
If you are connecting from off campus, click to check Allow Authentication. On-campus users should leave that box blank.

Now you must change the outgoing SMTP port from 25 to 587. In order to accomplish this change in Eudora, you must perform the following steps:
