SPAM Quarantining on HSU Email Server
Starting Thursday, October 06, 2005, messages with a subject of [SPAM?] sent to your HSU preferred email address will no longer be delivered automatically to your email client but will instead be placed in a personal "Quarantine account" that the campus message-filtering hardware system (the Barracudas) has created for you. You will receive a daily report in your HSU preferred email account that will detail all of the spam messages that have been sent to you. Watch your INBOX for an email message with the following information:
From: HSU Spam Virus Firewall (spam@humboldt.edu)
Subject: User Quarantine Account Information
When you receive this message, you will be able to decide what to do with the captured messages (i.e., receive or delete them individually). If the included link does not work, please paste the entire link into your browser to easily access the messages identified as spam.
The Quarantine account allows you personally to manage spam messages being sent to you with the flexibility of choosing your own spam scoring preferences and quarantine options. It also gives you the ability to create whitelists (legitimate address lists) or blacklists (addresses that you personally deem as spam 100% of the time and you just want to block). See http://www.humboldt.edu/~its/techguides/email/baracuda/barracuda.html
for instructions on how to set options on the Barracuda filtering system for your quarantined mail.
Messages will remain in your personal Quarantine account for a maximum of 30 days. Do not use this location to save important messages that may have been incorrectly marked as [SPAM?].
