Students gain an understanding of social behavior in wildlife
systems in relation to ecological conditions. The course begins
from the premise that individuals behave in a way that promotes
their own reproductive success and this often results in conflicts
of interest between the sexes and parents and offspring. The
use of animal behavior in wildlife management, conservation
and research is emphasised. The focus is on vertebrates. Independent
field projects and field trips may be required.
