My fields of interest include social evolution, behavioral ecology and population biology.
The emphasis in my work includes explaining how and why individuals cope and thrive in their
chosen environments and how the conglomerate of individual strategies shape the demography
and distribution of populations. I am particularly interested in identifying the conflicts
of interest between female and male partners, whether divorce (in pair bonds) is a matter
of choice or chance, and how extra-pair behaviour may alter our perception of mating
systems and sexual selection. So far I have focused on birds, but I continue to be
interested in these topics throughout the animal kingdom. My approach combines theory,
experimentation and field studies, addressing basic and applied issues.
