Arcata Steller's jay sightings

Arcata Steller's Jay Color Bands

Multiple resightings of the jays in and around Arcata (from Sunny Brae to the Mad River) provides us with information to track individuals across the landscape and throughout the birds' lifetimes. Each bird is fitted with two bands on each leg; three are color bands and one is the USFWS aluminum band. Jays may occur as singles, pairs, family groups or small flocks. They may visit your bird feeder calling loudly or they may be silent
