C. maximum. SHASTA DAISY.

This
is one of the many transplants from my Mother's garden ... and has a lot of memories.
My mother first planted them just before my sister's wedding ... at least
that's how I remember it. The starts came from a friend's garden
... like so many of the other plants in her garden ... and provided many
beautiful blossoms for the bouquets that decorated the church and the reception hall.
We put food coloring in the water so the color of the flowers matched the
pastels of the bridesmaids' dresses. And several years later, we did
not same thing for my own wedding. The white double-bloom flower
is long-lasting, making it one of the most popular varieties of Shasta
daisies. A hardy summer and autumn-blooming annual, this member of
the Chrysanthemum Family thrives in full sun or partial shade,
especially if planted in rich, moist, well-drained soil.
