Humboldt State University's teacher preparation program in physical education provides training that ensures job opportunities in the physical education, health, and sport professions. Students who finish the program are encouraged to enter the California Teacher Credential Program, however, many possess the qualifications to pursue a graduate degree in a variety of health related areas.

The single subject program offers a diverse curriculum that has a scientific base with application of principles in clinical experiences. Students can expect to be provided with experiences in public schools, sports programs, intramural programs, health clubs, and recreational programs. In addition to clinical experiences the Department of Health & Physical Education's human performance laboratory and facilities offer modern technologies that help round our students' educational background.

Our department offers a well-rounded program; to further enrich our students' academic experiences supplemental courses are advised to provide a foundation that makes our majors marketable.
