
A certificate in exercise nutrition is being offered for students and working professionals who wish to expand their knowledge of the complex relationship between nutrition and exercise. At its core, the academic content is applicable to physically active individuals, teachers, coaches, personal trainers, and professionals in the health and wellness field. Students enrolled in this certificate program of study will engage in problem solving through case-study formats and active online discussions.
The curriculum is structured to provide core content in the area of nutrition and exercise as they relate to health, performance, weight management, and, optimal bone and muscle development. Changing trends in dietary intake and exercise for health and fitness will be emphasized throughout the courses.
To earn a Certificate in Exercise Nutrition students must complete four, 3–unit classes, for a total of 12 units. The courses must be taken in sequence.

Spring HED 344 – Weight Control (3 units)
Summer HED 446 – Optimal Bone and Muscle Development (3 units)
Summer KINS 447 – Pharmacology and Ergogenic Aids (3 units)
This Certificate is presented entirely online. Each course is unique in the required assignments but all have been designed to develop a strong online community of learners through asynchronous classroom discussions between students and the instructor. Students are given assignments, quizzes, and projects with required due dates submitted electronically to the instructor. Each course has an online midterm and final examination to be completed during specific identified periods of time.
