1. I keep track of my grades in each class so that I am aware of my performance.
2. I keep a positive attitude about my performance on exams.
3. Throughout the semester, I conduct review sessions 10 minutes a day for each class.
4. I plan ahead to study for exams, and put specific study times in my schedule.
5. I determine specific study tasks for my review sessions.
6. I prepare note cards for my classes that require knowledge of terms, dates, concepts, etc.
7. I label and carry my note cards with me to study in my spare time.
8. I review my note cards, dividing the cards into those I know and those I need to study more.
9. I quiz myself using key terms in my textbook, the chapter review, and by using my class notes.
10. I use my notes and textbook to predict what questions will be asked on a test and then try to answer them.
11. I study in short spurts (an hour or less) and take a break, rather than studying straight through for several hours.
12. I test myself using my own words and examples and not just memorizing my notes.
13. I make sure to be well rested before an exam.
14. I scan the whole test before I begin to answer the first question.
15. I budget my time during a test, paying attention to how many points each question is worth.
16. When I'm anxious or tense before an exam, I use relaxation techniques to calm myself.
17. If I have trouble answering an exam question, I mark it and come back to it later.
18. I try to answer the easiest questions first before moving on to the more challenging ones.
19. I check over my answers before handing in my test.
20. I read all answer choices on multiple-choice questions.
21. I look for key words in multiple-choice and essay questions.
22. I use the process of elimination when doing a multiple choice or matching test.
23. I pay attention to keywords such as "always", "never" and "sometimes" on a true/false test.
24. I review and correct my tests to use later as study guides.
