Mary E. Glenn, Ph.D.
I received my masters and doctorate in anthropology from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and did my undergraduate work in anthropology at Loyola University in Chicago. My primary research interests are nonhuman primate behavior, ecology, evolution and conservation. I am currently concentrating my studies on mona monkeys (see photo below), a species of primate that was introduced to the African islands of São Tomé and Principe and the Caribbean island of Grenada approximately 300 years ago during the slave trade. I am comparing these island monas with mona populations living on the African mainland in the countries of Nigeria and Cameroon. In the past, I've studied pygmy chimpanzees in Congo, spider monkeys in Costa Rica, introduced stumptailed macaques in Mexico, and captive emperor tamarins in Chicago. |
