HSU Moodle Support

New and Noteworthy

After Spring term HSU upgraded to a new version of Moodle. Version 1.9.4 brings a new gradebook to our LMS. The gradebook is very robust and thereby more complex to use than the previous gradebook. To assist with learning the complexities of the new features and interface, the Moodle Support office will be hosting a number of training sessions to familiarize faculty with the gradebook throughout the Summer and Fall terms.

Moodle Surgeon Shalimar Warning:
Navigating the new gradebook without a training session, or help from the Moodle Support office may lead to headaches, nervousness, profuse sweating and malaise.

Visit http://training.humboldt.edu for a complete list of upcoming training events. If you would like to schedule a one-on-one training, please contact our office; extension 3633 or email mdlsos@humboldt.edu. We are available for troubleshooting and support Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

What Is Moodle?

Moodle is HSU's Course Management System. Moodle allows faculty to easily post course information, hold class discussions, communicate with students, and hold exams online. Faculty do not need to know how to build a web site to use Moodle; content is added through the use of online forms, and files made in Word, Power Point, Excel, and various other programs can be added directly into Moodle. Moodle also provides advanced learning content development tools such as the Glossary Module, Bo ok Module, and Lesson Module. The Lesson module in particular is designed to support Dr. Richard Mayer's Practice Principle of multimedia enhanced learning.
