Online Manual: Course Calendar

 

Instructors can use the Course Calendar to indicate important course related events. The dates and events that appear on the Course Calendar are for all students registered in a specific course. Activity due dates (Quizzes, Assignments, Lessons, etc.) are added automatically to the Course Calandar when you add them to your course.

Students can click on the Calandar link in the My Tools bloc on the My HSU page to see an overview of the due dates and other calendar items for all their courses. You can also add other events to the course calendar and/or personal events that will only show up in your calendar. Suggested items to include in the calendar are section meetings, dates for guest speakers, etc. If you do not have a course calender on your course page and would like one, simply click Turn editing on, then on the very right hand side of the page at the top, you will find a section on the side that says "Blocks Add.." Click on the drop down box and select Calender.

To Add Events to the Calender:

  1. Click on the month.
  2. Now you will see a larger version of the calender. Click on the button New event in the upper right hand corner of the calender.

  4. Type the name of the event in the Name field. Enter the description in the Description field. Enter the date and time when the event will start into the Date field. If the event has a specific time frame, you can enter the date and time in which it will end or you can just enter the amount of time it will take. If there is no specific time frame, you may select Without duration. If the event repeats, select No repeats. If the even is weekly, select

Q: How can I modify or delete a Calendar Event?
A: Find the event you want to modify, and click either the editEdit button or the deleteDelete button, depending on which function you wish to perform.
Q: How can I see more events at a time?
A: Simply look to the right hand side of the page and click on the link of the month you wish to see.
Q: Can I add my own personal calendar items?
A: Yes, you can have Moodle track your personal calendar items as well. Simply follow the instrustions above and when you get to select the kind of event you want to post, choose User event, and then you will be the only one who will see it!
