Using Word to Create HTML

Word can be used to make HTML (web-page) documents for Moodle. You can choose to save any Word document as HTML, and most special formatting such as bulleted lists or tables will be preserved.

  1. Open a Word document that you have already created and saved.
  2. Go into your Moodle course, click Turn editing on.
  3. Next, choose the section you would like to add a Text Page or a Web Page to,
  4. Click on the drop down box next to that section that says Add files.. and choose either a Compose a text page or Compose a web page. (A web page allows you to format your text while a text page is just plain text.)
  5. Now, go to your document that you wish to import into html, select it all, then copy and paste it into the text box of your text or web page. If you are importing from a word document into a web page, make sure you click the clean up word button: word clean up.
  6. Arrange the text as desired and don't forget to save your changes!

If you wish to do something similar with a PowerPoint presentation to make it simple to view instead of download, you can import it into a lesson. For more information on creating a lesson, click here.
