REQUIRED MATERIALS:
RECOMMENDED MATERIALS:
COURSE STRUCTURE: There will be two types of
homework assignments in this class, WebAssign and Written Assignments to be detailed below. We will have four quizzes, typically
after every two chapters as well as a midterm and a final. Due dates are laid out in the
Course Calendar. Make your plans accordingly. Due
dates will be strictly enforced.
WebAssign Assignments: There will be a total of 26 assignments using the WebAssign system.
I will drop the lowest 4. Due dates for these assignments will be at 11:59PM on the day they are due. You may do the assignment
as many as 5 times until the deadline, making this a great tool to practice new concepts.
WebAssign assignments are worth 5 points each.
The class key for this course is: humboldt 7015 0471 .
Written Assignments: There will be a Written Assignment due typically at the end of each chapter. Written assignments are intended to keep your math writing skills sharp. Treat your written assignments like a report. I will deduct points for sloppy homework! Do not wait until the last minute. I recommend that you work on the problems assigned for each section the day that section is covered in lecture. Your written assignments are a reflection on how much care and effort you are putting into the class. Presentation and content are equally important. Due dates are listed on the course calendar. Written Assignments are due at the beginning of class There will be a total of 6 Written Assignments each worth 15 points.
Quizzes: We will have four quizzes each worth 50 points and will cover one to two chapters. After I have graded your quiz you will have an opportunity to redo it. I will reward this effort by returning half of the points you missed for problems corrected properly. Quiz dates are clearly marked on the course calendar, they cannot be made up. If you miss class, you miss the quiz.
Midterm: The midterm will be on Friday March 13th. We will have an opportunity to review the material and work through a practice exam. Do not miss the midterm. It is worth 100 points and there will not be an opportunity to make it up.
Final: The final will be comprehensive. It will be on Monday May 11th from 12:40-2:30. Don't miss it! The final is worth 200 points and cannot be made up.
There are 700 total points, as detailed below:
