Clark Terry in Concert
with HSU Jazz Orchestra

The Humboldt State University Department of Music is proud to present the legendary jazz trumpeter Clark Terry in concert with the HSU Jazz Orchestra on Saturday, May 1 at 8 pm in the John Van Duzer Theater. Tickets are $15 general and $12 for students and seniors.

Clark Terry is one of the last living links to several eras of jazz. An important member of both The Duke Ellington and Count Basie Bands, Terry has also collaborated with many of the titans of modern jazz, including Gerry Mulligan, Bob Brookmeyer, Charles Mingus and Max Roach. Still going strong at the age of 83, Terry began his professional career on a Mississippi steamboat, playing in a band led by Fate Marable, the same man who gave Louis Armstrong his first job outside of New Orleans.

Clark Terry is probably best known to many through his long association with "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson", first as a member of the band and then as a frequent guest, where he made famous his "Mumbles" scat-singing routine.

Clark Terry is one of jazz's greatest ambassadors. A brilliant musician, a wonderful entertainer and one of the warmest and funniest men you will ever meet, Terry has toured the world as a representative of the United States State Department and he has been involved in education for over 40 years, teaching countless clinics and master classes.
