| Dr.
Harley Muilenburg is professor of choral and vocal music at Humboldt
State University, where he conducts the University Singers, the Madrigal
Singers, and the Mad River Transit Singers, and teaches voice and conducting.
He earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral music from Arizona
State University, the MST degree in choral music from the University
of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and the BS degree in music education from
North Dakota State University. Dr. Muilenburg has adjudicated choral festivals and conducted festival choirs in North and South Dakota, Wisconsin, Arizona, Texas and California. In 1987, Humboldt State University awarded Muilenburg the Meritorious Achievement and Professional Promise Award. Dr. Muilenburg has authored articles published in the Choral Journal and the Choral Newsletter. In 2000, UNC Jazz Press agreed to publish Dr. Muilenburg's arrangement of Bobby McFerrin's "The Garden". During his tenure at Humboldt State University, Dr. Muilenburg founded the annual Madrigal Dinner presented by the University Madrigal Singers. He also founded the jazz choir MRT Singers. MRT Singers was invited and subsequently performed at the International Association of Jazz Educators annual convention in New Orleans, Louisiana in January, 2000. |
