Karen Davy is a lecturer in the music department, teaching Chamber Music, and Beginning Strings, and conducting the Intermediate Orchestra. Since coming to California in 1998 she has performed with the Humboldt and Eureka Symphonies, Symphony of the Redwoods, and North State Symphony, and has been on the faculty of the Sequoia and Humboldt Chamber MusicWorkshops. She teachers violin and viola and coaches chamber music at theHumboldt Music Academy, and is the music coordinator and chamber music coach at the Northcoast Preparatory and Performing Arts Academy. She has been on the board of the Eureka Symphony and serves as Treasurer of the Kato Havas Association.
She holds a BM in Violin Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and a MS in Music Education from Queens College, CUNY. Other graduate work includes study at the Vienna Hochschule of Music and extensive work with Kato Havas in London and Oxford.
Before coming to Humboldt, Karen taught strings in the Poughkeepsie City and Uniondale Free School Districts, and performed in numerous "highway philharmonics" of the Greater New York and upstate areas.
Member, North State Symphony and Symphony of the Redwoods, faculty Sequoia and Humboldt Chamber Music Workshops, Chamber Ensemble Director of Northcoast Preparatory and Performing Arts Academy.
