NICHOLAS LAMBSON is an active performer, teacher and scholar of the guitar. He has performed and taught throughout California and has written articles on guitar pedagogy and guitar technique.

Recently appointed to the faculty at Humboldt State University, Nicholas Lambson also teaches through the adjoined Music Academy as well as privately. He is currently working on a world-premiere recording of a flute and guitar duet by Dr. Larry McFatter with fellow San Francisco Conservatory of Music alumnus Abby McKee as well as his first solo album which should release in 2007 through VGo Recordings.

Nicholas Lambson has recently completed his Masters degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under David Tanenbaum and Dusan Bogdanovic with scholarship. As the Guitar Department Teaching Assistant to David Tanenbaum, he conducted collegiate guitar ensemble rehearsals, set up department recitals and master classes, served as the department liaison while Mr. Tanenbaum was touring and was responsible for several other logistical aspects of the department’s business.

Nicholas Lambson holds Bachelor degrees in Guitar Performance and Recording Arts with Honors from Cal State San Bernardino where he studied under Stuart Green. He has been recipient of numerous academic and musical awards while in attendance including the Performer and Scholar of the Year Awards, was elected to speak during commencement activities on the music department’s behalf in 2004, participated in the University Honors program, and is a member of several national academic honor societies. Nicholas Lambson has participated in several master classes for notable performers including Scott Tennant, Lily Afshar, Antigoni Goni and the Katona Twins and has also taken lessons from Bill Kanengeiser and Jack Sanders.

In 2000, Nicholas Lambson regained contact with his father, Stanley Anthony Funicelli, after over a decade without communication. It was then, as a young guitarist, that his father’s extensive musical career as a composer and as a guitarist was revealed to him. Since then, they have remained in contact and Nicholas Lambson sometimes features his father’s music in his performances. Stan Funicelli has begun working on pieces exclusively for his son.

As a testament to his diversity, Nicholas Lambson also attained a minor in English while studying abroad in Hull, England. His Recording Arts degree has manifested through electronic music compositions and professional recording sessions where Nicholas Lambson served as producer and studio engineer. Furthermore, Nicholas Lambson’s lifelong love of art led him to an internship at the Art Institute of Phoenix, and invitations to study at the Academy of Art, San Francisco under scholarship. However, the young artist chose to explore other academic avenues until finally committing his efforts to the guitar.
