SCHOLARSHIPS: MUSIC

Allen Scholarship
Awarded to continuing HSU music majors in need of financial aid. Two $500 awards granted yearly.

Maxine & MacDougal Armstrong Music Student Endowed Scholarship
Merit-based (by taped audition); music majors. Normally scholarships are between $400 - $600 each.

Bancroft Scholarship
Awarded annually to upper-division music majors who have graduated from a high school in Humboldt or Del Norte counties. Scholarships up to $2000 are given yearly.

C. Leland Barlow Scholarship
Open to all entering music majors. Awards up to $1200.

Jean Fulkerson Memorial Cello Scholarship
Open to all cellists, whether music majors or not, who demonstrate high potential. Awards up to $1000 is awarded each year.

Julie Ann Garciacelay Piano Scholarship
Student must be a serious piano student. $500.

Hannaford Memorial
Voice major with potential to contribute significantly to the department through participation in at least two ensembles. Part time or full time students. One award of $500.

Music Department Scholarships
Available in the following areas for music majors and non-majors, full-time and part-time: Piano, Brass, Composition, Voice, Woodwinds, Percussion, Strings.

Carla Petersen Powell Voice Scholarship
HSU voice major; based solely upon vocal talent and potential; with preference for classical voice and incoming freshmen, but can be awarded to any class-level; awarded annually; any voice type - $1000.

Richards Scholarship
Two awards of $450 are given to continuing music majors based on motivation, potential, and financial need.

Van Duzer Scholarship
Awarded to continuing HSU music students who show great artistic potential. Awards up to $1000.

In addition to these music scholarships, other types of Financial Aid are available such as Pell Grants, State University Grants, and Guaranteed Student Loans which are generally available throughout the year to all eligible students.
