RULES FOR TRAILS USE
Laws stated in the California Government Codes relating to use of bicycles,
trespass, vandalism, etc. shall naturally serve as the primary regulations relating
to trail user conduct and law enforcement. It is recommended that certain violations
now in the misdameanor category be reclassified as infractions to aid in effectiveness
of enforcement measures (Ref. 4.2.2).
The following additional rules should also apply to C.1 (Class I ?? - ed.)
trail use.
- Rules of the respective agency having jurisdiction over the area where the
trail passes shall prevail.
- All persons using the trail shall respect the rights of property owners
along the trail and shall not trespass on their property or privacy in any
way.
- All persons opening a closed gate shall close it after passing.
- No firearms shall be discharged from or across the trail.
- No fires shall be allowed except in areas specifically provided and marked
for that purpose.
- No dogs shall be allowed on trails which pass through farming and ranch
land as posted.
- Users shall limit trail use to the prepared surface and other designated
areas.
- No vehicles, other than mopeds and those for emergency or maintenance purposes,
shall be permitted to use the trail. Except where the trail traverses a common
right-of-way. Mopeds will he allowed only as specified in the California Vehicle
Code.
- On permit trails, users shall carry trail permit at all times.
- Permit trails subject to closure at discretion of property owner for reasons
of logging activity, adverse weather, high fire danger, or other conditions.
- On permit trails along logging roads, users shall move to road edge and
stop while vehicles pass.
- Users must register at trail entry where trail registers are provided.
