Waterfront Trail and Daby Island
This is the the first stop on our tour where the Waterfront
Trail exists today. Currently, this popular trail begins just
east of the Boat Ramp shown in the next slide and continues just past
the Adorni Center.
The present trail width of eight feet (2.5m) is the bare
minimum width needed for a multi-use path if it is to accommodate a
variety of users (eg, walkers, joggers, strollers, roller bladers, cyclists).
While this stretch of trail is adequate for current usage, increased
use in the future may necessitate widening this section.
Other cities have found that wider trails better serve
their users. For instance, in Vancouver, BC, their waterfront
trail is 12-16 feet (3.5 - 5 meters) wide.
