The Eureka (Palco) Marsh
A city park, the 45 acre Eureka (Palco) Marsh Complex is located on Eureka's western bayshore. The complex is unique in Humboldt Bay as salt, brackish, and freshwater conditions exist in one continuous marshy area.
The Marsh is constrained by Del Norte Street to the north, Broadway (US 101) in the east, the Bayshore Mall to the south, and extends into the Bay in the west.
The main public access is provided from Del Norte Street, with secondary access through the northern Bayshore Mall parking lot. A public access trail runs along the marsh's western extent, with several viewing benches spaced along its extent.
Cleanup efforts focusing on trash and pampas grass removal have been ongoing for the past year. More information is available from the Friends of the Palco Marsh.
From the Marsh southwards, the Waterfront Trail would travel behind the Bayshore Mall down to Parcel 4 and the Truesdale Vista.
