Guide to the Schedule Listings

The following describes how to read the Class Section listings on the web. Since several terms may be available, take care that you select the correct term when viewing the schedule. The last updated date and time should give you an idea of how current the available seat counts are.

                                                          ----Seats----  PRE LNK

=============================================================================
Subj - The subect area under which the course is offered.
Crse     - The course number
CRN - Course Reference Number used to register for the class.
           Each class section has a unique CRN. Sections numbered zero (0)
           will not show a CRN. Students must obtain the CRN from the
           instructor or department.
Sec      - Section number
Title    - Class title
Units - The number of semester units for the class. For variable unit
           classes, you must choose how many units you wish to enroll for.
Seats (Max/Enrl/Open)
         - The maximum enrollment for a class, the number currently enrolled
           and the remaining open spaces. A negative number of Open spaces
           indicates the class has been over-enrolled.
PRE REQ - Shows Y if this course has any course or test score pre-requisites.
LNK ID - This column indicates classes that are required to be taken
           together (lecture/lab, lecture/activity, etc.)
           For example, an A1 class must be enrolled with an A2, and a
           B1 must be enrolled concurrently with a B2.
CSL - Community Service Learning component for this class

The next line(s) indicate the class instructor(s) and meeting days,
times and location. Multiple meeting locations or day/time
configurations may be listed as the following example illustrates.

                                               R 1300-1450 FR 204A

The days of the week are coded as follows:
  M = Monday            S = Saturday
  T = Tuesday           U = Sunday
  W = Wednesday
  R = Thursday
  F = Friday

Follow this link to see Building Codes and Names for the abbreviations found in the schedule.

After the instructor and meeting information, there may be some additional
lines showing such things as corequisite courses, crosslisted classes,
additional fees, special meeting dates, or other comments.

Crosslisted Classes Note

For crosslisted classes, the number of OPEN seats may not indicate class availability. If a department has set the combined enrollment for 2 classes at a number less than the sum of their individual enrollment limits, the overall limit will be enforced. Thus, it could appear that each of the crosslisted classes have space available when the combined class is actually full. Check with the appropriate department if you are having problems in such a case.
In the following example, WS 436 and PSYC 436 have a combined enrollment limit of 44. The current combined enrollment is 21. ----Seats---- LNK Subj Crse CRN Sec Title Units Max/Enrl/Open ID ---- ---- ----- --- ------------------------------ ----- ------------- --- WS 436 24609 2 Human Sexuality 3 10/ 4/ 6 Myers, Melinda L.
