Question:

I was wondering if you could explain the theory and tell me some good web
sites to get info about weather or not pluto is considered a planet.

Answer:

There really is no theory regarding "planetness." The word "planet" is not a
precision term, and there is nothing fundamentally different between planets
and asteroids/comets except their size. To me, "planet" means "A big
non-stellar thing orbiting a star." What's "big"? *shrug* Indeed, asteroids
are also referred to in the literature as "minor planets." As an
astrophysicist, my take on the Planet/ no Planet debate is "big deal."
Science isn't about naming things; it's about studying their properties.
