Bequests
With the assistance of your legal advisor, you can establish a bequest by will or through a living trust to be directed to the University.
Simply name the Humboldt State University Foundation as the beneficiary. The Foundation was established to receive contributions for Humboldt State University. If you have already prepared a will, your attorney can help you add a statement, called a codicil, to include the Humboldt State University Foundation.
You may make a bequest for a specific dollar amount or for a
percentage of your estate. One advantage of a planned gift is
that you may minimize or eliminate estate taxes. A bequest can
represent your personal interests. For example -- you might endow
a professorship, a scholarship, faculty research, or a visiting
lectureship. You may choose to make your gift to a particular
academic department or program, or allow the University to use it
where the need is greatest.
The following language may be helpful in planning a bequest to Humboldt State. For more detailed information on sample bequest language, please contact the Director of Planned and Special Gifts at (707) 826-5101.
