The Department is very pleased to announce and acknowledge the generous additional support
to the Dr. Chester Collins Scholarship Fund that was recently provided by Mr. Glenn Berry.
The scholarship fund was initiated in 2002 by Mr. Berry in honor of Dr. Chester Collins who
came to HSU in 1956 as Dean of Admissions and counselor, and in 1961 was appointed as a
full-time Professor of Psychology, retiring in 1979. Chet was known and loved for his
kindness and sense of humor. He had the ability to see the bright side of any situation and
he shared this gift generously with his students, colleagues, clients and friends. He died
in 2001. The Dr. Chester Collins Scholarship was set up for the benefit of promising
students pursuing a degree in psychology.
An additional donation in 2003-2004 from Mr. Berry has allowed the addition of a second undergraduate scholarship and two graduate scholarships.
