Chester Collins Scholarship
Last year we awarded our first Dr. Chester Collins Scholarship from an endowment gifted from his estate. Dr.
Collins served at HSU as Dean of Admissions and counselor from 1956-61 and then as Professor of Psychology
until his retirement in 1979. Chet was known for his kindness, sense of humor and accessibility to students
whom he continued to counsel up to his retirement.
Mr. Glen Berry made a second generous contribution to the Psychology Department’s Dr. Chester Collins Scholarship
fund which Mr. Berry initiated in 2002. This spring the fund supported the awarding of two graduate student
scholarships of $1,500.00 each (to Scott Adelman in PPS and April Nichols in Counseling) and two undergraduate
scholarships of $1,000.00 each (Polly Bambauer and Diana Easley).
