This course will examine the instructional use of computers in secondary schools. Theoretical and practical areas of study will implementation of computer use by teachers in classroom. Specifically it will look at the instructional values of computers, computer-assisted instruction (CAI), computer-managed instruction (CMI), evaluation and selection of educational software, and utilization of computer to improve secondary education instruction.

Course Objectives:

  • To be familiar with the computer technology and its implication in the teaching/learning process.
  • To be able to evaluate and assess the computer objectives in curriculum.
  • To be able to evaluate, select, and utilize educational software.
  • To gain knowledge of CAI and CMI.
  • To develop skills in desktop publishing and its applications in education.
  • To understand information technology and internet access.
  • To understand the concept of multimedia and its application in education.
  • To develop skills in preparing instructional materials using multimedia presentation software.
