Welcome to the RAMP web site!
What is the Redwood Area Mathematics
Project?
The Redwood Area Math Project (RAMP) is one of the
19 California Math
Projects which are part of the California
Math Project funded by the State Department of Education. These
projects offer teachers an opportunity to develop their leadership in
math education and provide connections to state and national professional
organizations. RAMP serves a large geographic area, including Del Norte,
Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, Lake, Siskiyou and Trinity Counties.
While working together in the supportive atmosphere
of RAMP, during the institute and continuing with follow-up activities
throughout the year teachers share their experience and expertise with
that of other teachers. Together they investigate the current move towards
balance in mathematics education, problem-solving strategies, collaborative
learning, the use of manipulatives to reinforce basic skills, assessment
techniques, and the importance of technology in the classroom.

Twenty-five teachers will be selected to participate in the residential
Institute held at Humboldt State University and in the Mattole Valley.

with previous RAMP participants at the Regional Support Meetings. These
meetings are organized and facilitated by a Regional Leader for each
geographic area.

Workshops: During the academic
year, RAMP sponsors local workshops, providing teachers the opportunity
to stay current with changes in math education.
CMCN° Annual Math Conference:
RAMP supports the local affiliate of CMC, California Math Council to
the Far North (CMCN°), by funding attendance at the fall conference
for current year's RAMP participants. The CMCN° conference staff works
closely with RAMP personnel to bring an exciting and well-attended conference
to the north coast each year. RAMP also co-sponsors the quarterly CMCN°
newsletter.
Asilomar Conference:
RAMP participants are encouraged to attend the California Math Council
(CMC) winter conference at Asilomar. CMC is the professional organization
