BIOCHEMISTRY LABORATORY
Check my Moodle site for lab materials!
The experiments will be largely taken (some with significant modification) from the lab manual (Boyer 3rd ed.).
Students will be able to work in the lab any time during the week from 7 am to 11 pm. Because of restrictions on set-ups, scheduling instruments etc. you will still have to do the experiments within defined time periods (as an example, I might assign an experiment X which must then be completed during weeks 10-12).
Even though the experiments may be taken from manuals or handouts, you must still determine the chemicals required, submit an "order" to the stockroom, make up all of your own solutions, and do the experiment. You will also be responsible for proper disposal of all waste. There will be very limited Stockroom help.
THE LABORATORY IS TO BE KEPT CLEAN AND SAFE AT ALL TIMES. When you leave your lab station for the day make sure of the following:
NO ONE WILL CLEAN UP AFTER YOU!
THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF THE LAB ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
NOTE: THE STOCKROOM ATTENDANT WILL REMOVE TO THE STOCKROOM ANY EQUIPMENT LEFT OUT or ANY OPEN and/or UNLABELED CONTAINER FOUND IN THE REFRIGERATOR or FREEZER AND YOU WILL FOOT THE BILL AS WELL AS LOSE VALUABLE TIME.
