Internships

There are many summer internships available each year. Those listed below contacted me and requested that we share the information with our students.

Interested students should explore other resources as well, including the campus career center.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Cruz, is offering nine Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) during the summer of 2008. Our program will begin on Monday, June 23 and run for 10 weeks until August 29, 2008. Each SURF student will receive a stipend of $3,750 in addition to on-campus housing, and will be involved in a collaborative research project with a UC Santa Cruz faculty member.

Southern California Bioinformatics Summer Institute (SoCalBSI). This internship/training program consists of three weeks of didactic training followed by seven weeks of paid research training in bioinformatics. We offer $6,000 for undergraduates and $7,000 for graduate students. Interested students may apply through our website (below). Applications are now being accepted until March 03, 2008. The program will be held between June 16 to August 21, 2008 in Los Angeles at the California State University, Los Angeles. We do offer on-campus housing to students who require lodging.
