Transcripts

The Office of the Registrar can help you with all your transcript needs. Whether you’re applying for graduate school, earning a credential or transferring to another school, your official transcripts are the key.

Official transcripts may be ordered by fax, mail or in person. We cannot accept Official transcript requests by phone. Students may request a copy of their transcript by completing a transcript request form available from the Office of the Registrar (SBS 133) or online. Payments may be made in person at the Student Financial Services Office (SBS 285) using cash, check, debit card, money order, or certified funds.

How to Order Official Transcripts

NOTE: Official transcripts can only be mailed or picked up by the student. An HSU ID or a valid driver's license is required when picking up transcripts.

1. Complete the Official Transcript Request Form

Students may request a copy of their transcript by completing a transcript request form available from the Office of the Registrar (SBS 133). Once an online payment has been made, you must still submit a transcript request form via fax or mail.

Note: Regarding payment with a credit card through the CASHNet SmartPay system — MasterCard, Discover, and American Express ONLY — VISA not accepted. A 2.9% convenience fee will be added to your transaction to cover the cost of processing when using the CASHNet SmartPay system.

Note: Regarding payment with an E-Check — withdraw funds directly from a checking account FREE. There is no charge for using an E-Check.

Follow these steps to pay online:
    1. Log into Account Center (formerly WebReg). If you do not know your Student ID number, start here. (Note: Your Student ID number is different than your Social Security Number.) If you DO know your Student ID number, proceed to step 10.                       NOTICE: If you do not have a PIN or attended HSU before 1991, please contact the Office of the Registrar to have your Account Center account enabled at 707-826-4101, M-F between 8am and 5pm PST.        
    2. Begin at www.humboldt.edu.                    
    3. Under Quick Links, select Student Center.
    4. Select the Go to Student Services link.
    5. Select Forgot HSU username & password at the top right of the screen.
    6. Select Click here to retrieve your user name.
    7. Enter appropriate information; hit submit.
    8. Write down your HSU ID number.
    9. Return to www.humboldt.edu.
    10. Under Quick Links, under Tools, select Make a Payment.
    11. Enter your Student ID number and birth date.
    12. Select Transcripts.
    13. Select Purchase Transcript.
    14. Select the number of transcripts you wish to order and hit Add to Basket.
    15. If you would like to add "Rush Processing" or "Rush Processing and Overnight Mailing," click Continue Shopping and click on "Transcripts;" if not, proceed to step 18.
    16. Select "Transcripts Rush Processing" for $10 to guarantee your transcript will leave our office within two business days via regular mail. Add to Basket.
    17. Select "Rush Processing and Overnight Mailing" for $20 to guarantee your transcript will leave our office within two business days via UPS overnight delivery. Add to Basket.
    18. Click Checkout.
    19. Select method of payment via credit card or electronic check. NOTE: Visa is NOT accepted.
    20. Enter appropriate information.
    21. Continue Checkout.
    22. After making your online payment, you will receive a receipt number which should be written at the bottom of the transcript request form. It is not necessary to fax us a copy of your receipt.

Once an online payment has been made,
you must still submit a transcript request form.

How to Order Unofficial Transcripts

NOTE: Unofficial transcripts can only be mailed, faxed, or picked up by the student. An HSU ID or a valid driver's license is required when picking up transcripts.

To submit your request, fax it to the Office of the Registrar: (707) 826-6194, drop the form off at the Office of the Registrar (located on the first floor of the Student Business Services Building), or mail it to the address above.

Official Transcript Requests and Fees

Incomplete requests will delay processing and may result in your request being returned. Please ensure that you have included all of the required information on the Official Transcript Request form and that you have enclosed adequate payment for the service(s) you are requesting. If you receive a call from our office regarding a problem with your transcript request, calling the Transcript Office at 707-826-6242 when the problem has been corrected will expedite the process.

To speed up the processing time of your request, it would be helpful if your mailing address is up-to-date in Account Center (formerly WebReg).

Fee Structure

The following fee structure applies to transcript(s) ordered at the same time.

1st Copy $4.00
2nd - 10th copies an additional $2.00 each
11 copies or more an additional $1.00 each
Optional Additional Services
Expedited "RUSH" Handling* + $10.00
* Expedited Handling places your request at the TOP of the request stack currently in our office and will leave this office within two working days via regular mail.
Overnight Mailing** + $10.00 for Expedited "RUSH" Handling*
  + $10.00 per delivery address
** Overnight Mailing is only available with expedited handling. Addresses must be to the 48 contiguous states (No Alaska, Hawaii or overseas). A destination phone number MUST be provided along with a street address.

Unofficial Transcript Requests

For students having only attended HSU since June 1991:

Student records were computerized summer semester 1991. If you only attended HSU since this date, follow these instructions to access a printable copy of your unofficial transcript:

For students attending HSU any time PRIOR to June 1991:

Student records prior to this date require copying from record cards or microfilm. To request an unofficial copy of your transcript from this period, fill out an Official Transcript Request form and mark out the word Official and replace it with the word UNOFFICIAL. One copy of this record will be provided at no charge.

Processing Time

Your transcript request will be processed and mailed out in 7-10 working days after arriving in our office. Expedited (RUSH) Handling requests will be processed and mailed out in two working days after arriving in our office. Because of the volume of requests received at the end of each semester, transcript processing may take up to six weeks to process because of end of term grades and degree posting.

Transcript requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Email or other forms of electronic requests for transcripts

Submitting your transcript request by Fax

Transcript request forms will be accepted by fax. Payment must be made online prior to faxing the form. Please include proof of payment with your transcript request by entering the CASHNet Receipt Number and date on the transcript request form.

Transcript requests require the signature of the student. For this reason, email and other electronic requests are not accepted, including those with an electronic/digital signature. Request forms must be sent via fax, mailed to our office, or delivered in person.

Credit card payments can only be made online. Do not include a credit card number with your request.

Holds on your records

Your request will not be processed if you have any outstanding financial or administrative obligations to the university. These must be cleared before your records can be released.

All transcripts on the form will be sent out at the same time

There is an option on the form to have transcripts held and sent at a later date (after grades, after degree posts, etc.). If you desire to have a transcript sent now and another copy sent at a later date, you MUST make two separate requests.
