Students entering Humboldt State University interested in working on environmental issues often ask one of two questions: "What does an environmental scientist do?" or "What does an environmental engineer do?"In our Introduction to Environmental Engineering and Science course we try to answers those questions. In addition, we try to get those who think they want to be an environmental engineer excited about their future, those who aren’ft sure what they want to do at Humboldt State University interested in environmental engineering, those who are interested in environmental science understanding the breadth of their career choice.

The purpose of survey is to give students a better understanding the career paths that they are pursuing. Thirty environmental engineers and eight environmental scientists took time to respond to a lengthy survey to help students decide on what field they wish to study. The survey was not conducted in a random or scientific manner. Results were transcribed from respondents answers. Numerical results were rounded. This survey is intended to be used only for educational purposes.
