Program Information

Humboldt State University in Arcata, California is once again the host of a Research Experience for Undergraduates focusing on Design in Computer Science and Engineering and training new Role Models in Science. Research topics for 2009 may be found on the 2009 Proposals page (coming soon!). As a researcher, you will participate actively and contribute to a faculty research project, benefit from a one-on-one mentoring experience, and gain experience in understanding design of Computer Science and related fields.

During this summer, interns are paid $375 per week, totalling $3375. Additionally, lodging, transportation, and most meals are paid. Even further, if you present your research poster or paper at scientific meetings you will receive a $500 bonus.

  • You must have completed your sophomore year of studies in your major.
  • You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Women, minorities, and students from "undergraduate" institutions are especially encouraged to apply.

» As part of the application process, you must provide the following documents:

  • One page research statement.
  • Official college transcripts from all colleges you have attended.
  • Two letters of recommendation.
