To be eligible, students must have completed a junior year of study in Computer Science and related fields and not have completed a BA or BS degree. Citizenship or permanent residency of the U.S. is required. We are recruiting students in good standing and we looking for minority(*) students nationally. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed at least one year of undergraduate course work in Computer Science.

» Our program is offering:
- A $3375 stipend for each research intern for nine weeks
- An average of $600.00 per student for a travel allowance from their home institution to HSU
- A total of $1,500 for room & board while at HSU ($1,000 of which is shared housing in Creekview apartments) for the 9-week period of our REU program
- An average of $900 to support the research endeavors of each student (to be spent as the mentor sees fit) Note: This funding may be negotiated based on the needs of each project; some projects may require more or less
- Finally, $500 bonus stipend is available for research interns, who perform admirably during the summer, to present a poster and paper of their research at a scientific meeting
» Students agreeing to participate in our REU-RMS program are required to:
- Complete the 9-week program and meet the program requirements
- Live in campus housing (arranged by the REU site program director)
- Participate in all activities as defined by the program director and faculty mentors
- Complete a Program Exit Interview and yearly survey for updates
- Complete a degree program (for example, BA or BS)
- Present research poster and paper at a scientific meeting
- Assist in further recruitments at a respective school
