RHA Minutes for February 25th, 2008

26 02 2008

Meeting # 14
6:00pm, 02-25-08
Mad River Room

I) Call to Order: 6:03pm
II) Roll Call
III) Approval of Agenda- Added Redwood Quiet Hours amendment. First by Creekview, second by Hill.
IV) Approval of Minutes: 8 approve, 1 no, 2 abstain. First by Creekview, second by Hill.
V) General Forum
VI) Tabling Request
VII) Executive Board Reports
a) President - Doing ok.
b) Vice-President (Late)- Has ice cream.
c) Secretary- If you’re not getting the minutes, please e-mail RHA@humboldt.edu, which is pretty useless putting it in the minutes if you’re not getting them.
d) Treasurer- Probably deleted my minutes like so much spam!
e) NCC- No Frills: Passed 2 new proposals, one to get a new laptop and one for an external harddrive. President of the Year Awards, No Frills 2009: Sustainability in Washington. I got lost. :( ( But then I got papers and here’s what they said: PACURH Policy Book changed to include more schools in voting. No Frills 2009 is Sustainable Leadership for the Future at University of Washington, Seattle. A whole bunch of people won awards. A lot. Seriously. Good for them.
VIII) Representative and Committee Reports
a) RPB- Friday is the Drag Show, 8 pm in Klamath and Madriver, gave 210 to Hill for a dance, 400 to t-shirts, 20 for Resnews for Sock puppets and googly-eyes, still need people for Feast and Fest. Leticia Wyatt and Ryan Hall will be Princess and Prince. Still don’t have a date yet. E-mail RPB@humboldt.edu if you wanna help out.
b) ROBOT (PROXY)- Still talking about March of the Machines and details. Madden tournament had to be moved for Jesus. Almost every day in March has a program.
c) ROCC- Tabled almost everything except for stuff about Colour Purple, which went very well. Will continue watching Transgeneration.
d) NAKED (PROXY)- Haven’t gotten much response about the Mental Health Fair. Might need to get ahold of Mira directly, which proves difficult due to Sexland.
e) ResLife – No meeting last week. Nick is coming to meeting tomorrow.
f) NRHH (Late)- Had movie night last week, went well. OTMs are due at the end of the month, get them written!
g) Creekview- Spoke about programming, maybe a beach clean-up in April. Will be EPIC.
h) Canyon- Had a dance. Didn’t go so hot. Have a new RHA rep, VP, and Treasurer.
i) Hill - Had the Toga Dance on Friday, trying to change Redwood quiet hours.
j) Cypress (PROXY)- Sexland Sexpot is tomorrow at 7pm in the KBR. Talked about the Ridiculous Olympics and got a new Treasurer.
k) Manor (PROXY)- Had a 5-minute meeting and decided to do a BBQ around Spring Preview time (Part of the RHA week).
l) AS - No meeting.
m) UC Board of Directors (NO)
n) Alcohol and other drug- No report.
o) SHAC(NO)
p) Rec Center- Meeting is this Wednesday.
q) Elections Commissioner (AT THE J LIKE A PUNK)
r) Dining Committee(NO)
s) Publici- Thanks to J-9 for threats to material thieves. Also, lacking of things to do. Gibberish and confusion ensued between Micaela and Janine.
t) Advisori- LGAs all received fliers for Mock Rock and proposals. No report from Leti.
IX) Old Business (Janine gets tagged in)
a) RHA Programs
• NRHH to make a pancake breakfast
• hang things on people’s doors
• Basketball competition against different areas
• Karaoke
• Dance off
• Dodge ball
Which two should we do? Going to wait for word from NRHH about pancakes. Small rooms = better dances? Much debate in general on most options. Maybe some sort of obscure trivia? Mid-March, after Spring Break would probably be ideal. Big prizes plz. 3 Day Adventure!
b) J doors (James resumes the wheel)- Tabling for now, since we’re waiting on info from John Capaccio.
c) RHA week—April 6-12th
• RHA bingo
Hopefully getting a really nice bike to give away.
X) New Business
a) Smoking Areas- Lynn went to Hill council and talked with them about having more signs for smoking areas. Tarps/screens for the smoking areas?
b) UC Board of Directors Rep- Anyone interested?
c) Sending something to NIU- Maybe a local themed basket (like locally made stuff, not Humboldt State SWAG). Janine suggests $99.99 for a basket to be sent. Janine moves for the money. Seconded by Canyon. Would like to ask Ron for Humboldt Bears to put into basket. If we include a card, would be good to make it ourselves to avoid generic Hallmark-ness. Janine motioned for money, Lynn seconded. 10 for, 0 against, 2 abstain. Passes.
d) Redwood Quiet Hours- Hill council has given support. Proposal to change quiet hours on Friday and Saturday to 1am. Two-thirds of the building agrees through petition. Some LGAs have signed the petition. Concern for those who didn’t sign the petition and might have work. Community involvement to make change is awesome though. Nick suggests a test period to see how it will work. Leticia suggests going to ResLife council too for more consideration. Also wanting to have quiet hours end at 11am instead of 10am. Nancy suggests a questionnaire or something similar at the end of the trial period in order to make sure that everyone has a voice. James suggests getting the entire Hill involved for a trial run. Table in the J about it because it effects more communities than just Redwood. Janine suggests mass e-mailing to inform everyone. How long would the trial period be? 2-3 weeks? Start the test after Spring Break? Maybe set up an e-mail so people can give anonymous feedback before the trial period starts to work out kinks in advance. Nancy moves to support Redwood in a 3-week trial run after Spring Break, as long as publicity is put up in advance with the chance to get input and ResLife council is spoken to. Mary seconds. Vote to set up trial period: 10 yay, 0 nay, 2 abstain. Passes.
XI) General Discussion- Nancy knows of a bag of unused socks in Pepperwood for ResNews.
XII) Announcements-
a) Friday at 5pm in Agate A and B is the Final Fantasy 7 Competition!
b) Monday at 8pm Micaela is having an HTML Workshop.
c) Next next week is ROBOT Bot-luck.
d) Sex, Sterotypes, and Beauty Workshop Monday March 10th in Klamath at 7:30pm
e) Applications for next years RHA Exec Board should be out next week.
f) Friday at 8pm is the Drag Lounge with Gender Bender make-overs in the Klamath and Mad River room.

Adjourn at 7:26pm!

VII. Executive Board Reports
A. President LATE- No frills had frills, shook their plumage. Having a chat on AIM tomorrow with other presidents to create transition reports.
B. Vice-President - Working on RHA week. Class conflict :( Thinking about making separate G-mail accounts for exec board. Worked hard.
C. Secretary- HI O.O
D. Treasurer- Got rid of all the finals packs (finally). Still need other treasurers to contact her for BOF meeting. Going to make due if she doesn’t hear from everyone.
E. NCC- No Frills was fun, also included frills (candy on beds?). More detailed report next meeting. Looking for a NCC-IT, (NCC in training). Shoot her an e-mail if you’re interested NNT3 for an app.
VIII. Representative & Committee Reports
A. RPB- V-Day candy gone in two days (yay), planning Feast and Fest (April 10th?), need two royalty from all councils and servers. RPB@humboldt.edu
B. ROBOT PROXY- Still planning March of the Machines (EPIC), almost filled up the whole month. Tuesdays will be Anime Club, Wednesday ROBOT, Thursdays DDR Workout. Bunch of other programs in the works, RvB Marathon, professors, video game competitions.
C. ROCC- Going to be showing the Colour Purple at the bottom of the J, lots of food. Thanks to Ravin, new budget. Wednesday will be showing a miniseries (Transgeneration?), ROCC block coming soon?
D. NAKED PROXY- Scheduled to have a Mental Health fair @ the bottom of the J March 2nd. Might be working together with Canyon staff. Might buy NAKED Milers gear. More NAKED movie nights, with CAPS included for the talks. Might do a program from PACCURH, swimming on Sundays from 12-2 with Janine.
E. ResLife- Planning a larger scale staff event for March. Did a staff appreciation for V-Day, Nick came and gave a presentation. Talked about restructuring ResLife council to be more awesome.
F. NRHH - No meeting last week. Movie and popcorn event Thursday the 21st 7 PM Klamath, watching Cool Runnings. Write OTMs!
G. Creekview- Fire alarms, so no meeting.

K. Manor PROXY- Short meeting, just trying to allocate money.
L. AS (meets every other Wednesday from 3p-6p) PROXY- Long meeting, Learning Center and Children’s Center presentations. AS is giving a proposal to the Dean about the German Program to stay on for 2-3 years longer. Preparing for AS elections, April 22-24. Big event promoting AS in KB Room on the 23rd. $3,000 digital display for the library? AS scholarships due Feb 29th
M. UC Board of Directors- Updated bylaws and brought together goals and objectives from other sections. NHE will have men, women, and gender neutral bathrooms. SBS marketplace will be closed when the new one opens, old one to be taken over by UPD. Won’t be completed for awhile.
N. Alcohol and other drug- Got minutes from the December meeting. Have Option B stadium cups, figuring out what to do with them. Worked on goals and April being alcohol awareness month. Sober Dance April 8th. Goals might included art coaster contest, college health survey to be done again. Looking to reassess the policy on hookahs.
O. SHAC NO- None
P. Rec Center- Meeting this Wednesday at 10am. Ten Hail Mary’s.
Q. Elections Commissioner- HI. Intro to all that is Alex. Chose the elections committee (Nick Sweeton, Porchee Battle, Ashley Rubay, and Mike Emmanuel). Have gotten an awesome flyer from Ravin. Confirmed budget of $250 to make colour copies of flyers. Want to get as much advertising out as possible. Whore out RHA like nobody’s business. Want to get a fixed URL on the RHA website for ease of direction, with job descriptions, maybe even online app. Still need timeline for interviews. Pens? NO DO NOT WANT KTHXBAI. Might just use old pens from last year. Perhaps we need to use the pen money in some other form of recruitment?
R. Dining Committee- Should be meeting this Friday.
S. Publicist- Putting up posters today. Need ROCC posters. Publicist#2 is getting sick, but started to clean up the RHA computer. 3 people now posting on site.
T. Advisors- Nick: Mock Rock needs more help, please come on Tuesdays or get ahold of Nick. Looking for acts. Advertising will be up next week. Looking to add advisors to special living areas like OACS has now. Applications for those are coming out soon. If anyone sees a pack of purple hair dye, let him know (What will he do with it??). Leti: The Family is doing Fairy Cakes and Tea on Thursday during dinner. OTMs are due next Friday. No Frills was great, but we really need to do more OTMs.
IX. Old Business
a. Slam Fest- J9 brought the e-mail. Asking for participation from RHA. Suggested last week for councils to bring in a small object to respresent their council to combine as a whole (3D Diarama, middle school style?). Nobody wanted to do it. 
b. RHA Programs- We haven’t done anything. Just saying. Work with NRHH to make a pancake breakfast? Jannah wants to hang things on people’s doors. Basketball competition against different areas. WE TAKE JAMES. Maybe another sport. Mini tournament? Just no puking. Gross. Secretary suggests Ridiculous Olympics be changed to Ew-Gross Olympics. Karaoke maybe? Dance-off or Dodgeball. RHA Idol? Tabled to next week.
X. New Business
a. RHA week—April 6-12th- Spring Preview is on the 11th and 12th. Still pinning down a date for Feast and Fest. Think about what days we want. Manor wants to work with another council. RHA Bingo is held at the bottom of the J, yay, battle of the bike. Lots of fun and a big deal, traditionally the exec board’s RHA week event. Teeter-a-thon is done for a specific cause, keep the teeter-totter going for 36 hours to raise money for the cause. J-point/C-Card donations were taken last year. NRHH event. Won’t do it again due to liability. Will do “Arrest-a-Staffmember” program, each staff member has a cup with money donated to it. UPD comes and arrests person in the middle of the J? As a staffmember, this sounds terrifying.
b. Smoking Areas- Local group is talking to remove Quad smoking areas. Want to move it to the North West area of the parking lot. Mostly saying it’s a disturbance with noise, social interactions, and smoke. These were created as a balance of people’s rights. Janine thinks the Cypress lower smoking area is more of a concern, because you have to walk past them to get anywhere (especially the one between the hill and Cypress). Enforcement could be an issue. Sarah suggested a cover for lower Cypress smoking area. Table to next week? Hill first, Creekview second.
c. UC Board of Directors Rep- Talk to Jannah for details, they do all sorts of awesome stuff and have food at meetings. You know you wanna do it! Lots of perks, discounts, and free passes. Must have 12 credits last semester and 2.0 GPA. To bring up next time, will nominate then. Lynn is interested.
d. J-Door- The J wants to close the J-door closest to Cypress because the doors don’t close properly all the time, wasting energy when trying to heat the J. Problem is, most people will probably just go through the second floor, which presents the same problem. Makes it incredibly in convenient for Cypress. Revolving door if possible? Fire hazard if locked? Change to pull doors instead of automatic doors? Depends on financial options. Would be left as a fire door if it were closed. Problem also that the revolving doors are being misused. Possibly tinkering with the push door to restrict misuse. Problems with alarms being ignored. Big debate. Alex suggests a trial run, looking at energy use. Need more information from the J on their financial options. Maybe close at the bottom of the stairs with reasoning.
IV. General Discussion
a. Sending something to NIC for support. Table to next week. NRHH first, Hill second.
V. Announcements
a. Sex in the Elevator on Friday during dinner.
b. Write OTMs!
c. Bots have to be used if you’re requesting one! Too expensive to buy and not be used.
d. RHA exec board needs to write OTMS (*coughSarahcough*)
e. ResNews pilot episode coming soon, in sock puppet-o-vision!

Adjourn at 7:25 pm!

Cypress Council Minutes - 2/19/08

24 02 2008

- Roll Call!

> The president, the publicist, all four LGAs and myself were on time to the meeting. Our vice president could not make it (Stan, we missed you!) and our council advisor showed up shortly after the meeting was called to order (Side Note: It is not such a good idea to start a council meeting with so many hyper, easily distracted people in one room without guidance).

- Announcements!

> Our president actually attended a meeting for one of the satellite councils! (cue applause) Announcements from the RHA meeting he attended included overviews of discussions about closing the door on the Cypress side of the J Dining Commons to save energy and also to move some of the smoking areas on campus to areas farther away from the dorms and main walkways. If you disagree with either of these issues, like a few other members of the council did, attend an RHA meeting and voice your opinion.

> Also, RHA week is set to happen from April 6th to the 12th.

- New News about Old News!

> We finally had candidates show up for the treasurer position during this week’s meeting! Our two contenders for the treasurer-ship: Nathaniel P. Meyer and Max A. Zellman. Both had valuable attributes that they could contribute to the council, but in the end, it was a promise to be the rep for two satellite councils that won the election. Congratulations and welcome to our new treasurer and RPB rep, Max A. Zellman!

> The Olympics (“That’s like four years from now.” – Max) of the ridiculous variety are shaping up to pretty awesome event for RHA week. Jordan, the head of the committee for the Ridiculous Olympics, quickly got to work pairing people with events. Each person assigned to an event must return to the following meeting (which is 2 weeks from now because Sexland is next Tuesday) with rules for their respective events. It was also decided that the Olympics should take place around 6pm on a Wednesday or Thursday during RHA week.

> Sexland is mere days away! (Tuesday, Feb. 26th, if any of you forgot.) We are still in need of man power, especially for set up and take down. If you would like to volunteer and can manage to rope a few friends in as well, show up any time between four and midnight at the KBR and we will assign you a job. (Side Note: If you are planning to help at the very beginning, we will be meeting at Dottie’s and my suite (Cypress East 4230-9 or the one on the second floor of Cypress East with a calendar in the window) at 4pm

And finally…

- Random Quotes from a Random Council!

> “Yes, I’m Harry Potter.” – Erwin (when questioned about his ability to turn a grape into an apple for the Handless (Currently Undecided Object) Transfer event)

> “It’s a cartwheel race. The rules: You can’t touch the ground.” – Dustin (attempting to make the Cartwheel Race utterly ridiculous… and also utterly impossible)

> “Blood doesn’t smell nearly as bad as puke.” – Mike (while discussing the Spin Til You Fall/Puke event)

Manor Council Minutes 2/19/08

19 02 2008

Nothing new to report.

ROBOT MINUTES FOR YOUR THIRTEENTH DAY OF YOUR SECOND MONTH

15 02 2008

ROBOT MINUTES FOR 2/13/08: OH COME ON, THE NAME’S RIGHT ON THE TIP OF MY
TONGUE. YOU SERIOUSLY DON’T KNOW? UHHH, SHE WAS IN MONKEYBONE, WITH
BRENDAN FRASER, YOU REMEMBER THAT MOVIE? AH, WHO DOES. YOU KNOW WHAT, I’LL
JUST LOOK IT UP. ON WIKIPEDIA, WHERE ELSE? WELL I GUESS IMDB WOULD BE
FASTER BUT I ALREADY LOADED THE PAGE– OH, HERE IT IS. OHHHH, IT WAS ROSE
MCGOWAN. HOW DID WE GET ON THIS SUBJECT AGAIN?
Mad River Room 8 PM

Side Poll! An epic three way battle that ended in the only way you can
have imagined it would: Rock vs Paper vs Scissors. Still, ROBOT needed to
delve deeper into what each of these “throws” represent as archetypes of
real-world phenonoma. Rock fans let us in on a secret: rocks can be
thrown, literally (not just in the sense of the game) where the other two
can be only with much difficult. But yet, paper has inherint power that be
drawn from in the semi-famous anime series, “Read or Die” (I thought it
humerous to point out I was playing Final Fantasy Tactics at this moment.
Anyone who can tell me why this is ironic will get kudos :) from me!)
Scissors are the only one of the three to boast celebrity endorsements
from Johnny Depp and Tim Burton (but NOT Winona Ryder.) A detraction from
rocks is, and I will quote, “magical ring power!” Yeah. The very existence
of paper means trees are dying somewhere. One cannot (or at least, should
not) run with scissors, the tragedy of every child. The vote was:
Rock: 10
Paper: 10
Scissors: 10
Wookiee: 24
Because when you play Rock-Paper-Scissors with a Wookiee, you always lose.
Fun Side Poll Fact: Sometime far enough in the future where the effects of
this vote wont matter anymore, officials will look into claims that the
three choices ended in a tie only after one ROBOT member (to protect their
anonymity, we’ll refer to them by a nickname: The Tallest) rigged their
votes away from scissors. Which will beg the question: was this legal?
Ethical? Fortunately, by that point, nobody will care.

Meeting called to order at 8:20 pm.

ROBOT ROLL Call: Oh no!

Approval of Agenda: There is no agenda, man.

Approval of Minutes: Minutes delayed on account of getting a PSP for
Valentine’s Day, for which I claim no responsibility. Sure, you could say
that I didn’t really need to buy the Final Fantasy Tactics remake for it,
but only if you didn’t know me better.

Sound System Requests: Nope, no sound system requests this time. Seriously.

BUSINESS:
1) ROBOT Split
On account of Ravin’s sleepiness and Leticia’s absence, Ravin proposes a
split meeting, where half of ROBOT follow Sarah to the Sunset Classroom to
make March of the Machines posters, while the other half stay in Mad River
to work out March of the Machines kinks. Also, Sarah needs real scissors
because the Reslife Office thinks it’s too good for scissors. At this
point Brit Brit threw her sandal at Tonks, and though I missed why I am
assured he deserved it. Reports and announcements were given now (they are
listed after the March Business item) before the poster making group left.

2) March of the Machines
March is getting filled! Here’s the updated list!
February 29th-March 2: FFVII Competition
March 3: HTML Workshop from 8-9p
March 5: Botluck (ROBOT Potluck), 8p (our first meeting of March)
March 7-8: Red vs. Blue Marathon, from 7p-12a
March 9: Super Smash Bros. Brawl Competition, starting at noon
March14-15: LAN Party
March 23: Madden NFL ‘08 Tournament
March 28: CCAT
March 29-30th: HumCon
Every Tuesday in March: Anime Club
Every Wednesday in March: ROBOT Meeting
Every Thursday in March: DDR Workout League

Individual Program Budgets:
Red vs. Blue Marathon: $75 food
Final Fantasy VII Comp: $200 ($125 food, $75 prizes)
DDR Workout Comp: $120 food
SSB Brawl Comp: $200 food
Maddenl NFL ‘08 Comp: $100 prizes

HumCon will get its own line item in the budget soon.

REPORTS:

Grand Poobah: Sometime in March we need to vote for next year’s ROBOT
Chair. Ravin proposes that potential candidates run March’s sidepolls.

General Dogsbody: Um? No.

Scribe: Claims that minutes double feature will be worth the wait.

Pimp O’ Cash: Go to Canyon Council! Unless, you know, you don’t actually
live in the Canyon.

Royal Vizier: Not present

Merger of Awe: Still meeting Mondays at 7:30 pm. There’s still a lot to be
done for March and we also need to get some BOTS soon.

Epic Alliance: From now on, this portion of the minutes will be replaced
by the sounds of crickets chirping.

D2R2: Anime club wants to do some CosPlays workshops, which was incredibly
popular in last year’s March of the Machines (though Alex makes the
request that this year’s workshop(s) be a bit more socially just.) DDR
wants the first or last DDR Workout session to be a DDR Competition. Mouse
of Sound is apparently ROBOT’s secret weap-

REST OF MINUTES COMPLETED AND MAILED BY SECRETARYBOT3000 FOR YOUR MEATBAG
PLEASURE.

TEE-SHIRTS: WAITING FOR SENTIENT LETICIA TO PLACE ORDER FOR UPPER FLESH
COVERING PRODUCTS.

WEB-TECH: MY COMPUTATIONS PREDICT A SEVENTYSIX PERECENT PROBABILTY THAT
THIS PARTICULAR NOTE READS “New Leader!” THOUGH PERHAPS IT IS MEANT TO BE
READ “New Header!” HOW IS THIS FLESHBAG ABLE TO READ HIS OWN SCRIBBLINGS,
ANYWAY?

RHA REP: EVERY COUNCIL WANTS TO OWN THE PERFECT BLENDING OF STEEL AND
WIRING THAT IS A BOT. ALSO, SENTIENT RULER LIFEFORM IDENTIFIED AS CAPACCIO
WANTS TO CONSERVE ENERGY IN THE CAFETERIA BY RESTRICTING ACCESS TO THE
FRONT REVOLVING DOOR. DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH THIS METHOD? LET THE
MEATBAGS OF RHA KNOW YOUR MEANINGLESS OPINION.

NO OTHER REPORTS WERE GIVEN OR RECORDED.

BONUS SENTIENT QUOTE: “My boyfriend got a gun so he gave me a promise
ring, and Garrison Keillor is on.”

ADJOURNED AT PRECISELY 21:08:28

ROBOT Minutes 2/06/08

15 02 2008

ROBOT PRESENTS A GRINDHOUSE MINUTES DOUBLE FEATURE EVENT:
MINUTES 2/6/08: DEATHPROOF
MINUTES 2/13/08: THAT OTHER ONE. YOU KNOW, THE ONE WITH THE ZOMBIES, I
THINK, AND THERE’S THAT WOMAN WITH THE MACHINE GUN FOR A LEG. YOU KNOW WHO
I’M TALKING ABOUT. SHE USED TO BE ON, WHAT WAS IT, CHARMED? I THINK SHE
REPLACED SHANNON DOHERTY. YOU KNOW WHO I’M TALKING ABOUT, RIGHT? YEAH.

ROBOT MINUTES FOR 2/6/08: DEATHPROOF
Mad River Room 8 PM

Leticia wanted to let it be written in the minutes and known throughout
ROBOT that she was actually on time for the start of this meeting. This is
a day that will be long remembered throughout ROBOT lore, though not quite
as funny as the one where Leticia was “thinking about ROBOT”.

Side Poll! Two mythical creatures who are actually totally real (no
seriously, my cousin, he knows this guy who like, totally SAW Nessie in
the river, man) square off: El Chupacabra vs. The Loch Ness Monster.
Supporters of El Chupacabra wanted to let everyone know that it quite
literally sucks (sorry to spoil the ending, but this may be why it lost).
Another (the first?) plus was that El Chupacabra successfully invaded
Canada, making it more successful than the entire U.S. in that regard.*
Nessie supporters gave their strongest praise for the fabled Loch Ness
Monster: it was apparently eaten by a whale (spoiler warning: Nessie lost
too. Surprised?) The Loch Ness Monster is, however, very non-photogenic,
and El Chupacabra is apparently easily confused with dead dogs. Both
creatures frighten Leticia. The final tally:
El Chupacabra: 13
Loch Ness: 16
Wookiee: 26
The Wookiee carried the day again, presumably because Wookiees don’t suck
and I don’t think one’s ever been eaten by a whale before.
Fun Wookiee Fact: This is the first ROBOT meeting ever where the word
“Wookiee” was correctly spelled (two e’s at the end) in the side poll.
Past generations of ROBOT hang their heads in shame at this greivous
error.
Fun Minutes Fact: I managed to slip a second Star Wars reference into the
previous paragraph, and that makes me happy.
*Fun History Fact: U.S. Unsuccessfully Invades Canada:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_1812#Invasions_of_Upper_and_Lower_Canada.2C_1812

I didn’t catch what time we called the meeting to order, but really, do
the meetings ever really manage to get to order?

ROBOT ROLL Call: Awww yeah.

Approval of Agenda: Really?

Approval of Minutes: ROBOT approved of the previous week’s meeting. Future
generations will look back at this moment as a huge mistake.

Sound System Requests: NO! THERE WE NO SOUND SYSTEM REQUESTS THIS MEETING!
WINK.

BUSINESS:
1) T-Shirts
If you want extra T-Shirts (or know off-campus alumni and non-attending
friends who want shirts) you need to get your money to Leticia soon. If
you need to pay by check, make them out to Leticia Wyatt.

Creekview: Ian isn’t so lonely anymore. We didn’t have a report, though.

Canyon: Just kidding about not having sound system requests! Canyon had
two in their very own report! Tonks asks for it on February 14th, from
7-closing, for a Valentine’s Day dance. Also, Brit Brit wants it on
February 29th from 7-12 for a Drag Lounge. Both requests passed! Yay!

Cypress: Kurse you SEED! SEed sEed SeeD SEeD sEED SeEd

dance in Sunset on February 22nd from 7-12. This also passes.

Bonus Quote: “You weren’t here to clean up our leftovers with your face!”

Adjourned at some point.

ROBOT Minutes 1/30/08

15 02 2008

ROBOT MINUTES FOR 1/30/08
Mad River Room 8 PM

We started with a side poll! ROBOT’s namesake, the eponymous robot,
squares off against aliens, in a very generic sense. Robots score points
for being able to run on booze, and were championed by GIR. Aliens, on the
other hand, are very squishy (a pro!) and led by, for some reason, Zim.
Alien fans decried robots for their electro-VD, while aliens were bested
by germs or Tom Cruise (either way it’s not pretty.) In a heads up battle
Robots bested Aliens 23 to 12, though the real winner was the Wookiee,
with 33 votes, because Wookiees can rip the arms off of robots, and also,
are aliens.

At this point we called our meeting to order at 8:13 pm.

RObot ROLL Call: Some people were here, some were not. In later
installments I’ll keep track of who! Cassie also formally named the Mouse
of Sound.

And this point in the program we also selected, finally, an RHA
Representative! Like any legitimate political race there were two
contestants, Charles and Carol. Charles made the claim of being very
roboty (ROBOTy?) and carried with him enough computer memory to contain
our souls. Also Machiavellian. Carol established herself as egomaniacal,
and willing to conquer (in the name of?) ROBOT. In the end, it was decided
that Charles should be our RHA Rep.

Approval of Agenda: What are we, Associated Students?

Approval of minutes: Ha!

Sound System Requests: We had one! Canyon Council (or possibly Canyon
LGAs) sought the Sound System for events next Monday and Friday at 8:00
pm. Brit would work the system during these events. ROBOT unanimously
agrees to give the system.

BUSINESS:
1) Merger of Awe Meetings!
It was decided that the Merger of Awe will meet on Mondays at 7:00 PM in
the Sunset Classroom.
LIVE UPDATE, 1/5/2008, 12:09 am: The YES House has meetings in the Sunset
Classroom until 7:30, so Merger of Awe Meetings will either need to be
relocated or pushed back a half hour. More on this at the meeting,

2) T-Shirt Designs!
It was discovered that current, active members of ROBOT during either this
or last semester shall receive a free ROBOT T-Shirt. All others
(off-campus alum, friends of ROBOT, actual robots, etc.) and those wanting
extras shall pay an extra fee of $14 per shirts. Then it came time to vote
for the T-Shirt color scheme, in the T-Shirt Bonus Side Poll (Wookiee not
present.) The two color schemes, known as “Blue” and “Red” went to a
head-to-head vote. This first vote came:
Red 8, Blue 9
However, with concern over disinfranchised and uninformed ROBOT members,
as well as confusion over voter intent, a recount was called, resulting
in:
Red 11, Blue 8
Thus, our t-shirts shall use the “Red” color scheme.

3) BOTS
Our RHA Week event. People are excited. Things are happenings. BOTS-like
things.
Tell your councils if they want a BOT they need to ask us for it ASAP.
First, though, we need to BUY the BOTS. Hopefully with different
frequencies this time.
Please?

4) DDR League Feb. 14
Canyon LGAs (or Council?) want to have a Valentine’s Day dance at the
bottom floor of the J, meaning we have to give up DDR League that day.
Vote is met with overwhelming wave of ambivalence, but still passes.

5) March of the Machines
ROBOT’s most epic Month-long event. A few dates are set:
February 29th-March 2: FFVII Competition
March 29-30th: HumCon
Every Thursday in March: DDR Workout League
Beyond this, we mostly pitched ideas for other March of the Machines
events, with the following suggestions offered:
A LAN Party- WOW? Uh, whatever other online games people play? So… WOW?
Madden Video Game Tournament- Several LGAs would be interested in helping
HEMI Movie Show
Thermain- The only instrument you can play without touching it!
Red vs. Blue Marathon- Could we show all five seasons in one night?
Dr. David Kornreich- He’s presented at previous March of the Machines events
Other Professors- Most professors love giving presentations. Also, can be
bribed with free food.
HTML/Photoshop Workshops
DNA Day
CAPS- A presentation on internet addiction
March 31st- Cesar Chavez day. A time for ROBOT (and other council members)
to give back to our community and a great way to close out March of the
Machines.
Penny Wars- To donate to a worthy, technology based cause (such as Penny
Arcade’s Child’s Play: http://www.childsplaycharity.org/)
Other ideas to be presented at the next few ROBOT and Merger of Awe meetings.

REPORTS:

Grand Poobah: No report.

General Dogsbody: Wearing an epic jacket!

Scribe: I need to work on being succinct. Also, figure out the new
website/adding people to the listserv. Again!

Pimp O’ Cash: No report.

Royal Vizier: What? Oh! Nothing.

Merger of Awe: Come to our meetings!

Epic Alliance: Need cases for the X-Box 360 and Playstation 2. Generic
cases are located at Gamestop. Will look into these.

D2R2: No report.

Tee-Shirts: See above.

Web-Tech: Chose food over RHA.

Voyeurs: Excited for March!

RHA Rep: No report.

ROCC: They have broad plans for awesome Spring programming. Look forward
to these soon.

RPB: The Super Bowl Party will be (was?) Sunday, Feb 3rd. It was (will
be?) incredibly awesome and well attended.

Creekview: Ian is very lonely

Canyon: So many Canyon residents, yet none go to the council? In other
news, Canyon is visible.

Cypress: Cypress is unrepresented. Also, still standing.

Hill: They’re planning a dance.

Manor: Ryan is unsuccessful at arson? I dunno, that’s what it says in my
notes.

Off Campus: James lets us know that the Gamer’s Guild is interested in
presenting at HumCon, so long as it does not become another “Hentai Fest”
which confuses pretty much everyone. So, leave your tentacle porn at home,
kiddies.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Vote!

Adjourned at some point.

Manor Council Minutes 2/12/08

12 02 2008

Called to order.

Present at meeting:
Chair: Ryan Hall
Secretary: Josh Nauman
A.C.: Shelby
Resident: Nancy
A.C. Shelby declared our budget to be $78.00.

Ryan Hall suggested the remainder of our budget be allocated to free finals packs for all Manor residents. Any/all other programs will then be funded by RHA or RPB. It was made known that both RHA and RPB have considerably more money at their disposal then previously calculated.

Manor LGA Stephanie had spoken about putting on a social/cultural diversity pot luck. More information will come asap.
