Rangeland resources senior projects include range plant inventories, private ranch plans, weed control strategies, grassland restoration projects, and nutritional analysis of plant growth on different soils.

Wildland soils students sharpen their skills in the lab and on extended field trips. They piece together clues about how soils vary across landscapes. In class assignments, students practice making professional recommendations to prevent erosion, enhance soil fertility, maintain soil productivity, and restore wildland ecosystems.

More than 80% of RRWS graduates find employment in their field. Employers include the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Bureau of Land Management, Forest Service, branches of the military, and businesses such as private ranches, consulting firms and conservation groups. About 18% of our graduates earn masters degrees and 9% have obtained doctoral degrees.
