the North American Wildlife and Natural Resources and Natural Resources
Conference in Chicago at their request to enter discussions about the
addition of a Wildlife Unit. |

position description and responsibilities for the CNRS Hazardous
Materials Technician; Helped implement the required training for all
faculty and staff utilizing hazardous materials. |

the new Wildlife and Fisheries Building on-line. |

Renewed/coordinated
discussions regarding occupancy of the about-to-be-built Behavioral and
Social Sciences (BSS) Building. |

with SUN Microsystems to explore mechanisms to leverage technology

Brought
a new Captain on staff to master the R/VCoral Sea. Worked to
rehab a dysfunctional system of vessel use. |

Nominated
(w/Sean Kearns) Dr. Boham and the Indian Natural Resources, Sciences,
and Engineering Program (INRSEP)for the Presidential Award for
Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring. Dr.
Boham won the national award and was presented the award in ceremonies
at the White House |

Worked
the University Veterinarian to bring the CNRS into full compliance with
Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) regulations
promulgated by USDA and state programs; We were so successful that we
have been moved to annual inspections from 6-mo surprise inspections. |

Successfully
negotiated a Partnership Agreement (MOU) with Columbia University's
Biosphere 2 Center in Oracle, AZ to provide educational opportunities
for HSU students and research and exchange possibilities for
faculty. The agreement includes access arrangements for using the
Biosphere 2 facility for faculty research. Efforts included taking
seven faculty to the Center for exploring the possibilities and
attending the Partnership Advisory Group meeting at the Center. |

Reviewed
all CNRS Faculty Activity Reports (FAR's) for two cycles of merit
increases and made recommendations to the President. |
