Advising

It is important to note that many classes within the Business program have lower division pre-requisites. This means that many upper-division (junior and senior level) classes cannot be taken until specific lower division courses are completed. Many courses also need to be taken in a specific order. Meet with your assigned advisor or talk to the department chair of any department you are considering as a major. Careful planning can shorten the time it takes to finish your academic program.

It is also very important to remember that within every option in the Business program, there are required classes that are offered only once per academic year. Meet with your advisor EARLY in your academic career and regularly thereafter (i.e. before registering for classes each semester). Your advisor can help make sure that you get into the classes you need, when you need them, so that you can complete all requirements for graduation. Proper planning will help you avoid unnecessary delays, and graduate.

Business Minor Advising:   Students interested in obtaining a business minor must meet with our Business Minor Advisor, Dr. Saeed Mortazavi, and secure a contract, preferably prior to completing two courses towards the business minor degree. The contact information for Dr. Mortazavi is sm5@humboldt.edu (707) 826-3846.
